Introducing status page accuracy ratings

At StatusGator, we know that not all status pages are created equal. Some providers promptly acknowledge incidents, while others lag behind—or worse, never report issues at all. To help users quickly assess the reliability of provider status pages, we’re introducing Status page accuracy ratings.

What are status page accuracy ratings?

StatusGator continuously monitors provider status pages and evaluates how quickly they acknowledge incidents. With our new Status page accuracy ratings, you can now see how transparent a provider is when reporting service disruptions.

We assign each provider a grade based on the average time it takes for them to acknowledge incidents on their status page. These grades are visible on our website’s service pages and within the StatusGator app on the Monitor page.

How we calculate status page accuracy

We analyze incidents over the past 90 days, recalculating the accuracy grades daily to ensure an up-to-date reflection of each provider’s performance.

Incidents are categorized as follows:

  • Provider-Acknowledged Incidents (Detected by StatusGator): The delay is measured from the moment StatusGator detects an incident with Early Warning Signals to when the provider officially acknowledges it on their status page.
  • Provider-Published Incidents (Not Detected by StatusGator): If the provider announces an incident before any StatusGator user reports it, we assign a delay of 0 minutes.
  • Unacknowledged Incidents: If StatusGator detects an incident that the provider never acknowledges, we assign a fixed penalty delay of 4 hours (240 minutes).

We then calculate the average delay across all incidents in the past 90 days to determine the provider’s Status page accuracy rating.

Status page accuracy grade scale

  • A (Excellent): Average delay less than 15 minutes
  • B (Good): Average delay between 15 and 30 minutes
  • C (Average): Average delay between 30 minutes and 2 hours
  • D (Poor): Average delay between 2 and 4 hours
  • F (Failing): Average delay greater than 4 hours

These grades can help you quickly identify providers who reliably report incidents and maintain transparency. Our goal is to help all providers improve transparency and accuracy of their status page and help StatusGator customers understand the reliability of their providers.
