Issue reports and early warning signals: Now in Beta

We are excited to announce a new enhancement to our platform that will further empower you to stay ahead of potential issues. You can now report an issue for services directly from your StatusGator admin dashboard. Help out other teams who might be experiencing downtime by reporting unpublished issues. These crowdsourced issue reports are one of the datapoints that power our new Early Warning Signal alerts.

How it works

With this new feature, you can report problems you experience with services, even if they are not yet officially acknowledged by the provider. While your issue description won’t be shared publicly, they will contribute our new collective early warning signals, providing valuable insights to other StatusGator users. By flagging potential problems early, you can help others prepare for issues before they impact infrastructure.

To get notified via email of potential issues yourself, before the provider reports them on their status page, request this feature here and we’ll put you into the beta.

Why it matters

Even in the best of cases, it takes time for providers to acknowledge known incidents. For some providers, it can feel like ages before an incident appears on their public status pages, time when users are left scratching their heads. By leveraging the collective observations of our community, we can create a robust early warning system that keeps everyone informed and ready. This feature is about collaboration and mutual support, enabling us all to stay one step ahead of potential disruptions.

How to report an issue

To report an issue from the admin board:

  1. Navigate to your Board.
  2. Select the service you wish to report an issue for.
  3. Optionally provide a brief description of the issue and any relevant details.
  4. Submit your report.

Your input will be added to our internal monitoring system, helping us and other users detect and respond to potential issues swiftly.

We believe that this feature will greatly enhance our community’s ability to understand the state of their systems. Please give us your feedback and stay tuned for more updates and enhancements. Should you need any assistance or wish to request a feature, our team is here.
