Now in the API: History, Custom Monitors, and Subscribers

Last month, we introduced the StatusGator API v3, a complete overhaul of our API designed to give developers more flexibility, an improved data model, and deeper integration options for monitoring the status of hundreds of services.

Today, we’re excited to share three major additions to v3: the Board History API, Custom Monitors API, and Status Page Subscribers API.

Board history API: Insights into past incidents

The new Board History API provides full access to historical incident data for all the third-party services you monitor through StatusGator. This allows you to analyze past outages, generate uptime reports, and identify long-term reliability trends — all directly through our API.

With the History API, you can:

  • Retrieve the history of outages affecting your monitors
  • Extract StatusGator data to your own data warehouse
  • Correlate service disruptions with internal events.
  • Build custom dashboards and analytics to visualize uptime over time.

Explore the API documentation for details on available endpoints and implementation examples.

Custom monitors API: Monitor anything

We’ve also introduced the Custom Monitors API, enabling you to create and manage monitors for any endpoint or internal system — not just public status pages. Custom monitors are those for which you manage the status manually with Incidents. Instead of StatusGator pulling the incident data from a third-party provider, you control the incidents yourself.

With the Custom Monitors API, you can bring internal tools, third-party services, and proprietary systems into your StatusGator dashboard, unifying all your monitoring data in one place.

Try out the API in our interactive docs.

Status page subscribers API: Manage email recipients

The new Status Page Subscribers API allows you to programmatically list, create, and remove subscribers to your status page. This new API is perfect for those who want to integrate StatusGator into an existing directory.

Or, if you’re migrating from another status page provider, this API will allow custom scripts to import subscribers and ensure uninterrupted notifications.

Check out the API docs for more details.

New: board and monitor IDs

We’ve also added a small but handy improvement to the platform — you can now find Board IDs and Monitor IDs directly in the web interface.

  • The Board ID is available on the Board Settings page.
  • Each Monitor ID is displayed on its respective Monitor Detail page.

These identifiers are useful when making API calls, helping you quickly reference the correct board or monitor without digging through API responses.

What’s next?

We’re not stopping here. The next phase of our API development includes:

  • Service monitors API — enabling you to dynamically create new service monitors directly through the API.
  • Zapier integration — one of our most popular feature requests that will bring StatusGator to the popular workflow orchestration platform.

These upcoming APIs will make it even easier to integrate StatusGator into your monitoring workflows and automate more of your incident management processes.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue expanding the StatusGator API platform.
