Certificate renewal on Spectrum Protect (TSM) servers backup-i and backup-L

Details

Verifying - Owners of nodes that backup to backup-i and backup-L must remove the old server certificate, in order to allow the new one to be installed on the client. To do this1. Find the folder that contains the dsmcert.idx, dsmcert.kdb, and dsmcert.sth files. This is probably /opt/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin on Linux servers, C:\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\baclient on windows servers, and '/Library/Application Support/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin' on OSX servers. However, it is possible it may be in another location.2. Save a copy of dsmcert.idx, dsmcert.kdb, and dsmcert.sth in an alternate location, and remove them from their original location3. Restart the TSM scheduler serviceYou can verify that things are working properly by looking at the end of the dsmsched.log file, or starting the client manually and confirming that you can connect.NOTE: We currently believe that this does not apply to version 6 and earlier clients, because they are so old that they do not use SSL encryption, and are not affected by this certificate. They also have not been supported for years (only version 8 clients are currently supported). Aug 24, 2023 - 16:05 EDT
