    Last updated November 21, 2025

This privacy policy applies specifically to the StatusGator integration for Slack. For our general privacy policy, please visit our Privacy Policy page .

    Overview

The StatusGator integration for Slack helps you stay informed about service outages and incidents directly within your Slack workspace. This policy explains what data we collect from your Slack workspace and how we use it to provide our services.

    Information We Collect

    User IDs

We collect and store Slack User IDs in the following circumstances:

    • When you upvote or downvote a specific outage report
    • When you report an issue using slash commands

    Channel IDs

We collect and store Slack Channel IDs when you report an issue using slash commands. This helps us understand the context of where issues are being reported within your workspace.

    Workspace Information

When you install the StatusGator integration for Slack, we collect basic workspace information necessary to establish the connection between your Slack workspace and StatusGator. This includes your workspace ID and related authentication tokens required for the integration to function.

    How We Use Your Information

    User IDs (Voting)

We use User IDs collected through voting interactions for the following purposes:

    • To track total votes on outage reports
    • To prevent duplicate votes from the same user
    • To maintain the integrity and accuracy of our voting system

User IDs and Channel IDs (Issue Reporting)

We use User IDs and Channel IDs collected through issue reporting for the following purposes:

    • To process and manage issue reports submitted via slash commands
    • To provide context about where issues were reported within your workspace
    • To enable proper routing and tracking of reported issues
    • To improve our service quality and response times

    Data Storage and Security

Slack workspace data collected by StatusGator (workspace ID, authentication tokens, Slack User IDs, and Channel IDs) is stored in a SOC 2-compliant environment on servers located in the United States. All data is encrypted in transit using TLS and encrypted at rest. Access is restricted to authorized personnel and systems required to operate the integration. We do not store message content or personal profile information.

StatusGator is SOC 2 compliant, demonstrating our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of security and data protection. For more information about our security practices, please visit our Trust & Security page .

    Data Retention

We retain data for the following periods:

    • Authentication tokens: Retained only while the integration is installed; deleted immediately upon uninstallation.
    • Slack User IDs and Channel IDs: Retained for the duration of the integration installation plus up to 30 days after uninstallation.
    • Anonymized/aggregated data (e.g., total vote counts with no user attribution): Retained indefinitely for service analytics.

All retained data is subject to our SOC 2 controls and reviewed annually.

    Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your User IDs, Channel IDs, or any other Slack workspace data to third parties. We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:

    • When required by law or to respond to valid legal processes
    • To protect our rights, property, or safety, or that of our users or the public
    • With service providers who assist us in operating the integration for Slack (these providers are bound by confidentiality agreements and are not permitted to use your data for any other purpose)
    • With your explicit consent
