User impact: Users in Africa may be unable to access Multiple Microsoft 365 services or features.

Current status: We’ve identified that multiple major fibre cables which manage requests in and out of the Africa region are broken. We’re undertaking multiple workstreams to address the issue:
- We’re working with the third-party carrier provider who manages the fibre cables to identify the cause and address the issue
- We’re redirecting multiple Microsoft 365 services and functionalities to leverage alternate healthy components where possible
- We’re performing traffic-management operations to optimize the usage of the available fibre cables and networking infrastructure within the region

Scope of impact: The issue significantly impacts users within the Africa region, however, users in other geographic locations may be impacted if their connections are routed through impacted networking components.

About Our OneDrive for Business Status Page Integration

OneDrive for Business is a Microsoft solution that StatusGator has been monitoring since August 2023. Over the past 9 months, we have collected data on on more than 14 outages that affected OneDrive for Business users. When OneDrive for Business publishes downtime on their status page, they do so using 3 different statuses: up, warn, and down which we use to provide granular uptime metrics and notifications.

More than 100 StatusGator users monitor OneDrive for Business to get notified when it's down or has an outage. This makes it one of the most popular microsoft services monitored on our platform. We've sent more than 300 notifications to our users about OneDrive for Business incidents, providing transparency and peace of mind. You can get alerts by signing up for a free StatusGator account.

If OneDrive for Business is having system outages or experiencing other critical issues, red down notifications appear on the status page. In most cases, it means that core functions are not working properly, or there is some other serious customer-impacting event underway.

Warn notifications are used when OneDrive for Business is undergoing a non-critical issue like minor service issues, performance degradation, non-core bugs, capacity issues, or problems affecting a small number of users.

OneDrive for Business does not post separate notifications for planned maintenance work so we are unable to send notifications when maintenance windows begin. If you need OneDrive for Business maintenance notifications, please email us.

OneDrive for Business does not publish a feed of proactive maintenance events on their status page at this time. If they do, be sure to let us know and we'll aggregate OneDrive for Business maintenance events into your unified calendar.

When OneDrive for Business posts issues on their status page, we collect the main headline message and include that brief information or overview in notifications to StatusGator subscribers.

When OneDrive for Business has outages or other service-impacting events on their status page, we pull down the detailed informational updates and include them in notifications. These messages often include the current details about how the problem is being mitigated, or when the next update will occur.

At this time, we do not gather individual component data from the OneDrive for Business status page. If you need this capability, please be sure to reach out.
